Pulse Technology Furnishings on Display at YMCA Sportscenter
When you step through the doors of the new YMCA Sportscenter opening early 2026 in Crown Point, Indiana, there is a marked sense of wonder. After nearly a decade of improvements and upgrades to the impressive flagship Southlake YMCA facility, Pulse Technology stepped in to refresh the interiors in late August, featuring a now-signature furnishing style carried over from various collaborations between Pulse and The Y. Now, with the addition of the impressive Sportscenter towering over South Main Street, Pulse Technology’s strong relationship with The Crossroads YMCA continues. Being such a fixture of the city—or, more pointedly, the entire Region—Pulse was up for the challenge of bringing function and finesse to the YMCA's newest fitness center.
After entering the double doors, the first sight that entrants are met with is a plethora of tables optimally placed within feet of the eight-court-deep basketball gym. The signature Hon Tangram zig-zag style sofa sits on either side of the tables, bookending the area with the perfect spot for putting on your new kicks or taking a swig of Gatorade after a long game.
On the other side of the facility, a central fireplace flanks two community boards looming large over a comfortable seating area. Even more tables and bench seating overlook the pickleball courts behind massive viewing windows, where seating lines the walkway through the facility’s impressive 12-court line-up. And bridging the gap between the basketball and pickleball sides of the center is the connecting tissue of the Cafe, which features even more tabletops designed to foster community and nutrition.
Pulse Technology designers Abigail Mancione and Jolee Allerding prioritized high-quality materials and durable construction when selecting the facility’s most prominent staples.
The Tangram, which is available in a wide variety of shapes, styles, and colors, is easily customizable and reconfigurable. In a space designed for movement and evolution, the ability to choose every angle on the sofa is imperative for the flow of activities and patronage.
The Etch, which is featured across the facility's many seating areas, is Hon's latest multipurpose chair. With a heavy-duty poly shell and metal legs, this chair is built for constant use by athletes and audiences alike. Available in a variety of trending colors and multiple build options—including the counter-height versions on display in the pickleball lobby and the chair-height versions featured on the courts themselves—the Hon Etch is versatile, durable, and reliable in multiple applications.
YMCA members and guests are invited to attend guided tours of the center, which are currently available Monday through Friday from 8 AM to noon and 3 to 7 PM at 1307 S. Main Street in Crown Point.
The facility opens to the public on January 2nd, 2026.
